Key Responsibilities
As a remote Software Engineer at Athenium, you’ll be trusted with building and maintaining software systems used in highly regulated industries.
Your Day-to-Day Will Include:
- Designing and deploying scalable cloud-based solutions
- Writing production-level Java applications with modern object-oriented practices
- Maintaining and improving AWS cloud infrastructure (ECS, Lambda, EC2, RDS, etc.)
- Managing deployments using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, and Terraform
- Supporting customer success teams with technical issue resolution
- Ensuring security compliance (SOC 2 standards) and system reliability
- Participating in code reviews, Agile ceremonies, and sprint planning
Must-Have Skills
- 8+ years of software development experience
- Expertise in Java, Linux administration, and web application architecture
- Proficiency with AWS cloud services and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Experience with web servers like Apache and application servers like Tomcat
- Strong understanding of network technologies: HTTP, SSL, DNS, ALB
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and Jira for tracking
- Background in security compliance (IAM, firewalls, SOC 2)
- Proficient with tools like Git, Jenkins, Ansible, Maven, and Terraform
- Ability to work independently and collaborate remotely
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SQL/NoSQL database design
- Familiarity with React, Angular, or Vue for modern UI development
- Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
